MG_ThumbMichael Guy, BSc MA MClinPsyc DipCH MAPS, is a Clinical Psychologist offering specialised psychological therapy in southern Sydney’s Sutherland Shire at Miranda. The practice provides specialist psychotherapy for people with bipolar disorder and those with a history of trauma including PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

He is a clinical and coaching psychologist with over 14 years of professional experience. This means he has recognised university qualifications and a lot of experience to give him skills that help people with a wide variety of issues. His background includes training in psychology, psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and hypnotherapy so he can offer a number of different ideas and approaches to assist you. He has expertise in helping with issues associated with bipolar, trauma, life adjustment problems, depressed mood, anxiety, personality issues, drug and alcohol abuse / dependency, and grief. He works by using the Schema Therapy model to take ideas from different psychotherapy schools such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Gestalt to give you strategies to change the feelings, thoughts and behaviour that you don’t like. He has helped a large number of people with a wide variety of issues including those recovering from drug and alcohol addictions, as well as those affected by major life crises such as HIV.

He is most interested in finding patterns in client’s lives that may be sabotaging or unskilful behaviours and try to confront these in a supportive and caring manner. He will work with you to provide strategies to change these negative patterns so that your potential can be realised and your quality of life improved. He is registered with the Australian Psychology Board and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
